Clothing center accepting summer clothing donations

As summer approaches, the Jackson County Clothing Center has several needs to be able to serve its customers.

Most needed items now include children’s clothing in sizes 8-14, men’s shorts and jeans in sizes 28-34, and sandals and tennis shoes for men, women and children.

While the center works with clients and their families to ensure they are dressed for work, school and leisure, volunteers also hope they can help them feel their well-being is respected by providing personal care items and toiletries. Donations of these items are also accepted.

Any group, organization or church able to help in any of these areas is encouraged to drop off donations at the center, 622 W. Second St., Seymour, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and between 1 p.m. 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Questions about volunteering, donating, or helping in any way can be directed to Cheryl Vierling at 812-522-7331.

The Apparel Center also expressed its appreciation for the work done on May 10 on Jackson County United Way Day of Caring. Volunteers helped wash the building and windows, and Schneck Medical Center employees organized and cleaned the interior of the building.
